All drawing classes run 1 hour and 15 minutes. Different projects will develop the student’s use of perspective, contour, grid system, shading and use of color. Projects are chosen based on the abilities and interests of the class. All drawing classes utilize graphite and charcoal pencils, colored pencils and chalk pastels. The purchase of drawing supplies is the student’s responsibility. Occasionally I supply white charcoal pencil on black or colored paper for a drawing to emphasize contrasts.
First time drawing students are required to take a one-time introductory class. This class acquaints them with their various pencils and erasers. We also learn about lighting and shadows. After this class they join other beginner and intermediate students.
Intermediate students are challenged to be more creative with their projects. Drawing techniques are strengthened through practice. I emphasize greater contrasts and control of pencils.
Advanced students are challenged with harder projects that I choose according to their interests and abilities. Advanced students must be at least 10 years old and have taken drawing from me twice before. I will make exceptions for older students whose artwork displays good talent. Please call to set up an appointment for their review.
